Pecans help in decreasing blood pressure. When mixed with certain other ingredients, pecans also help in preventing hypertension. According to the National Institute of Health, pecans are very competent to prevent rises to blood pressure and the risk of stroke or heart attack. Pecans contain a compound that weakens the cholesterol and beta-sit sterol points around your heart.
Pecans also help in preventing breast cancer! The high amount of oleic acid in pecans has the capacity to control the unusual activities of the cells that may lead to breast cancer.
Pecans are basically amazing.
I use them all the time. Luckily for me, my mother-in-law gives me gallon size ziplock bags of them a few times a year so I always seem to have them on hand. This means I try them in recipes every chance I get.

The other day while making a pecan crust for a dessert Mr. Wonderful had been begging me to make, I had about a cup of chopped pecans still sitting in the bottom of my trusty Ninja. I grabbed the oil and drizzled a little in while I continued to pulse on the Ninja. Before long, I had a thick, creamy peacan butter that was divine. I added a little coarse kosher salt to bring out the flavors a little more and I'm not going to kid you. . . It was awesome.
The first thing I wanted to do was make some pancakes. :)
With just a dollop on top a big ol stack of pancakes and a smidgen of pure maple syrup, you're in business! Have I mentioned how yummy this was?
As I said before, it's really easy to make. All you need is:
Pecans
Oil (I used canola - just a little will do.)
Salt
Pulse together in a blender until a nice paste forms. If it's too thick, add a little more oil. Just be careful, pecans naturally have a lot of oils and you don't want it gloopy. {That's totally a technical word}.
Looks delicious....gonna try soon :)
