Daily Affirmations

We all have something, right?  Something within that gives us the kick we need to get stuff done, or just to get out of the bed in the mornings. No matter what that spirit is, or the name you give it, it is IN you - guiding and helping you along the way - it gives you your desires and helps you to meet those desires.

Bottom line: Commit to that spirit within - that resilient, brave, courageous spirit that allows you to love and hope and be a better person. I promise, when you do, life will just blossom.

Positive Thinking Experiment

Dr. Masaru Emoto, a researcher and alternative healer from Japan has given the world a good deal of evidence of the magic of positive thinking. He became famous when his water molecule experiments featured in the 2004 film, What The Bleep Do We Know? His experiments demonstrate that human thoughts and intentions can alter physical reality, such as the molecular structure of water. Given that humans are comprised of at least 60% water, his discovery has far reaching implications… can anyone really afford to have negative thoughts or intentions?

Check out this video of Dr. Emoto's rice experiment.

The rice experiment is another famous Emoto demonstration of the power of negative thinking (and conversely, the power of positive thinking.) Dr Emoto placed portions of cooked rice into two containers. On one container he wrote “thank you” and on the other “you fool”. He then instructed school children to say the labels on the jars out loud everyday when they passed them by. After 30 days, the rice in the container with positive thoughts had barely changed, while the other was moldy and rotten.

This is the same experiment at 147 days and you can clearly see the results.

The human body and mind are tremendous forces that are continually amazing scientists and society. Therefore, we have no choice but to keep an open mind as to what the human being can achieve. - Evelyn Glennie
Your mind can do amazing and incredible things. But, it has to start with you. Your thoughts, actions, and words have an incredible amount of force in your daily life so do your level best to think positively no matter what the circumstances are.  Pick your battles and know that not everything is a tragedy.

Peace and love to you...

Pecan Butter

You may already know that pecans are super yummy covered in Karo syrup and fashioned into a pie but did you know that in addition to being tasty, pecans have a ton of amazing medicinal properties? Well, they do!

Pecans help in decreasing blood pressure. When mixed with certain other ingredients, pecans also help in preventing hypertension. According to the National Institute of Health, pecans are very competent to prevent rises to blood pressure and the risk of stroke or heart attack. Pecans contain a compound that weakens the cholesterol and beta-sit sterol points around your heart.

Pecans also help in preventing breast cancer! The high amount of oleic acid in pecans has the capacity to control the unusual activities of the cells that may lead to breast cancer.

Pecans are basically amazing.

I use them all the time. Luckily for me, my mother-in-law gives me gallon size ziplock bags of them a few times a year so I always seem to have them on hand. This means I try them in recipes every chance I get.

The other day while making a pecan crust for a dessert Mr. Wonderful had been begging me to make, I had about a cup of chopped pecans still sitting in the bottom of my trusty Ninja. I grabbed the oil and drizzled a little in while I continued to pulse on the Ninja. Before long, I had a thick, creamy peacan butter that was divine. I added a little coarse kosher salt to bring out the flavors a little more and I'm not going to kid you. . . It was awesome.

The first thing I wanted to do was make some pancakes.  :)

With just a dollop on top a big ol stack of pancakes and a smidgen of pure maple syrup, you're in business!  Have I mentioned how yummy this was?

As I said before, it's really easy to make.  All you need is:

Pecans
Oil (I used canola - just a little will do.)
Salt

Pulse together in a blender until a nice paste forms. If it's too thick, add a little more oil. Just be careful, pecans naturally have a lot of oils and you don't want it gloopy. {That's totally a technical word}.

Brand New Start

I'm so glad you've found your way to my new blog! This is an exciting new path for me and I'm super excited you guys have joined me.

The Apothecary of Eliza Jaine has been a long time coming.  I've had more blogs than I can count {literally!} and even though I enjoyed every.single.one, I found that I outgrew them after a while.  Not that I didn't love the teams I worked with, it was just... I needed my own outlet. Something in which I could be my absolute self in all things and being able to post about anything I want no matter the topic.

My first love has always been nature, plants, playing in the dirt - anything having to do with being outside.  I love it.  If I could, I would live in a tree house all year long and raise my food and just be one with nature.  But, I can't do that right now. What I can do is incorporate my first loves into my reality now.

I love homeopathic remedies. I love being able to know exactly what goes into my body.  his leaves no room for me to place blame on anyone or anything else for my health. I can't blame McDonald's or Burger King, and I can't blame my parents or my spouse for any problems I may develop (outside genetics, of course).

So, this blog will be all about what you can do to take better care of yourself and create a soothing, peaceful reality. One that will promote spiritual healing and abundant joy!  I will post a few recipes, some healthy tips and a ton of things to help you on the journey of becoming all you can be in this life.  :)

Blessed Be!
